Tuesday, June 5th at 1 pm Panelist, Answering the Call for Applied Research  Dr. Maike Luiken Dean of Applied Research Dean, School of Technology, Applied Science and Apprenticeship School of Fire Sciences, Lambton College Dr. Maike Luiken joined Lambton College in 2005 as Dean, School of Technology, Applied Science and Apprenticeship, School of Fire Sciences. Her background includes a doctorate in Physics from the University of Waterloo and a Staatsexamen in Physics and Mathematics from the Technical University in Braunschweig, Germany. She has over 25 years of professional experience in teaching and research, community and network building, and in linking industry partners, government agencies and researchers. Prior to her move to Lambton College Maike held the position of Vice-President Research Alliances for the National Capital Institute of Telecommunications (NCIT) in Ottawa. Maike spent the majority of her career with Algonquin College as a professor, a project leader, the Director of the Telecommunications Centre, and the Acting Chair of the Electronics Department. She has worked in the public and private sectors in Canada, USA (Tufts University), and Germany. She is a founder of the Ottawa Photonics Research Alliance (OPRA), and the Ottawa Wireless Research Alliance (OWRA). Maike is a member of the Board of Directors for UVS Canada, IEEE Canada and for SOBIN. |
