Dr. Martin Brooks
Research Council Officer
National Research Council Canada - Institute for Information Technology (NRC-IIT)

Dr. Martin Brooks leads the Broadband Visual Communication Research Program (BVC) at NRC's Institute for Information Technology. The BVC objective is to catalyze large-scale deployment of broadband networks, thus maintaining Canada's place as a world leader in advanced ICT technology.

Brooks was the Research Manager for the CANARIE-funded LearnCanada, MusicGrid and Participatory Design Studio projects.

Brooks has previously led NRC's Interactive Information and Knowledge Systems research groups. Prior to coming to NRC, Brooks carried out research in robotics, artificial intelligence, and software engineering at SINTEF, in Oslo, Norway.

Brooks has a B.A. in mathematics from MIT and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
