Produce a digital short under two minutes visualising student life in the year 2020, and you could win a $2,500 cash prize!

What lies beyond YouTube, Second Life and Google? How will future technologies, such as interactive multimedia and the seamless blending of physical and virtual reality, for example, impact your life as a student?

Winners

Thank you to all of you who submitted film entries to the ORION FutureFlick Contest. Our judges were impressed by the submissions, and had a difficult time narrowing down their top three picks. Congratulations to the winners!

Judges used the following criteria when evaluating the the films: originality/creativity of topic/theme, effectiveness in communicating the vision, contribution of creative elements (i.e. script, visuals, music, performances etc.), and to a lesser extent, technical quality (of editing, lighting, cinematography etc.).

We would like to also thank our judges who participated in the judging process: Cathy Goddard, professor of television and new media at Loyalist College; Gerd Hauck, associate professor of drama and speech communication at the University of Waterloo; Janet Murphy, program manager of Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) at York University / York Regional District School Board; Barry Stone, professional director and cinematographer; and representation from ORION.
