ORANO welcomes three new board members

ORANO expands its Board of Directors with three new members from the fields of education broadcasting, information technology and e-Health. The new members also extend ORANO's regional representation in Eastern Ontario and South Central Ontario.

The new members attended their first meeting at ORANO's regular board and Annual General Meeting on December 7.

Lisa de Wilde, President and CEO of TVOntario and formerly of Astral Television Networks, has been a key player in the Canadian film and television industry for over twenty years.

Dr. Khaled El Emam is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and the Canada Research Chair in Electronic Health Information at the University of Ottawa.

Patrick Spence, VP of Cingular Wireless and Rogers Wireless Business Unit at Research in Motion (RIM), is part of the senior management team that helped RIM become one of the world's leading information technology success stories.

"I look forward to working with our new board members," said Dr. Stan Shapson, chair of the ORANO Board and VP Research and Innovation at York University. "They will bring a unique perspective to the work and deliberation of the board as we focus on the future and implementing our long-range vision for ORANO."

Their insights and contribution will be invaluable as we build on ORION's strength as critical infrastructure supporting innovation in science, high performance computing, the arts, education and learning," said Phil Baker, ORANO President/CEO.

Other ORANO board members include Maxim Jean-Louis, Board Vice-Chair and President of Contact North/Contact Nord; Brian Desbiens, Secretary-Treasurer, former President of Fleming College; Robert J. Kennedy, Educational Consultant at Apple Canada; Terry Mosey, former Executive Vice-President, Bell Canada; and Anne Sado, President, George Brown College.
