Health Canada research centre connects to ORION
The Centre for Biologics Research, the research arm of the Biologics and Genetic Therapies Directorate of Health Canada, is the latest organization to connect to ORION.
Located in Ottawa, the Centre for Biologics Research is responsible for conducting scientific research and biostatistics activities in support of the regulation of biological drugs such as vaccines, blood products and recombinant protein therapeutics. It is also the Centre's responsibility to anticipate and respond to emerging issues. The Centre for Biologics Research conducts internationally recognized, peer-reviewed research and collaborates with other research and regulatory organizations in Canada and abroad.
"It is wonderful to see more health research institutions, such as the Centre for Biologics Research, realizing the value of the advanced capabilities of the ORION network to support and enhance their own goals and priorities," said Phil Baker, ORION President and CEO.
The physical connection for the Centre will be funded through the Infrastructure Extension Program by CANARIE, Canada's advanced research and innovation network, and will be connecting in early 2010 at the ORION PoP site in Ottawa.
