About the Role:

As a member of ORION’s Marketing and Communications team, the Marketing and Communications Content Manager plays a vital role in supporting the evolution of ORION’s brand voice, bringing content and stories about ORION to life through engaging and timely content – in various formats for a full range of audiences.

The Marketing and Communications Content Manager works with key internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement content strategies that support strong awareness of ORION and its strategic priorities and initiatives. You will manage a portfolio of content projects, collaborating and communicating with key stakeholders including the creation and execution (copywriting, interviewing, editing, proofreading, publishing) of all content as required. This will include blogs, website content, product and program descriptions, information sheets, newsletters, press releases and communications support for key strategic projects. You will work within a cross-functional team, driving value, championing high-quality editorial aesthetic, clarity, and style synthesizing complex information for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Activities:

  • Develop a rich understanding of ORION’s service, program and product offerings, together with our community’s needs and challenges to tell compelling stories that resonate, engage and demonstrate value
  • Leverage research and insights to create informative marketing and communications content across a variety of mediums
  • Proactively cultivates strong relationships with internal teams and helps maintain the reputation of the Marketing and Communications team through professionalism, innovation and positive contributions in meetings
  • Develops, analyzes and reports on corporate content metrics
  • Ensures content is factually accurate, consistent with approved messaging and in the appropriate voice and format
  • Develops ad-hoc business development and marketing content to support the business as needed, ensuring brand standards and voice are upheld
  • Provides writing, editing and proofreading support for ORION reports and board communications
  • Builds, schedules and manages emails campaigns in MailChimp aligned to ORION’s email strategy
  • Builds targeted campaign lists by marrying a keen understanding of audiences and Salesforce software
  • Creates, schedules and publishes impactful social media content aligned to ORION’s social media strategy
  • Manages external partners and agencies supporting content development and translation where necessary
  • Participates in the creative vision process for the ORION brand and strategy

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written communication/copywriting skills, editing skills and capacity to tailor information for various audiences
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal, presentation, and public-relations skills
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships
  • Capacity for creativity and research and ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness and judgement
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and within team and to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including ability to manage competing deadline pressures, ambiguity and change
  • Two or more years of professional experience in content marketing, public relations and/or corporate communications
  • Ability to use data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using MailChimp and Salesforce is preferred
  • Degree in creative writing, journalism, communications or a related field is preferred
  • Fluency in French (oral and written) would be an asset

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
  • Ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
  • Proactive approach to resolving problems and issues
