A gender-balanced world at ORION

International Women’s Day 2019

ORION seeks to enable and support Ontario innovators in their efforts to make the world a better place. The future at ORION is an exciting one and we all have a part to play in building this platform of collaboration. Our organization is full of community builders and our community-focused philosophy is reflected in everything we do.

In recognition of International Women’s Day, meet some of the talented women at ORION who are acting as champions for the research, education and innovation community.

Delilah has been the VP Business Planning, Marketing and Strategic Partnerships for over two years at ORION. She is accountable for the business development and marketing strategy related to current and new product and market needs for the MUSH (municipalities, universities, school boards, hospitals) sector, provincial government and under-served communities.

Over the past 15 years Delilah has led product development and marketing, business development, strategic planning and operations teams that span industries and sectors (telecommunications – wholesale and enterprise, transportation and public sector – software and hardware). Her ability to develop strategies, lead teams and build relationships both externally and internally has resulted in a consistent track record of delivering value across complex markets.

Gabrijela is currently the Finance Director at ORION. She oversees the daily operations of the finance and accounting department, promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement, mentors staff and ensures that ORION adheres to the proper financial and operational policies.

She is adept in providing leadership and direction in continuously improving business performance in a sustainable way and developing accounting methods and structure. Throughout her roles, she has had overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of company strategy and analysed figures and implemented recommendations based on these findings, with the most fiscally responsible outcomes. https://www.orion.on.ca/?p=9237

After years building a career in marketing and communications within agencies, Cathy spent more than seven years at MaRS Discovery District, falling in love with innovation and social purpose, collaborating on their programming for startups and system-change initiatives.

Cathy has spent the past five years at ORION engaging the ecosystem of players who must come together to bolster the innovation economy in Ontario. She brings together the community through events, tells the stories of the people doing amazing things with our advanced technology, and ensures that ORION’s strategies and priorities are guided by those they are meant to serve.

In a few months Sara will be celebrating her one-year anniversary at ORION in the role of Head of the Project Management Office (PMO). In her role, she is chiefly responsible for defining and maintaining standards for project management, implementing a common methodology and providing on-demand expertise for the organization.

Sara has worked in the technology industry and has over 11 years of project management experience and leadership. Her previous experience was split between BlackBerry and Rogers where she was most recently a director within the Rogers corporate PMO. Her specialty is PMO best practices and projects that focus on bringing products and services to market while keeping the user experience in mind.
