Happy Holidays from ORION

It has been another exciting year for ORION and as we look forward to the BIG ideas and infinite possibilities that 2013 holds, we also take time to look back and reflect on the last twelve months.

From ground-breaking cancer detection research conducted at the University of Toronto, to Niagara Colleges’ use of technology and data to revolutionize the agriculture industry, Ontario’s researchers demonstrated the potential of our province’s best and brightest. ORION is delighted to have played a part in their success and to share more of these BIG ideas in our 2012 Snapshot – where you will learn more about ORION and what we have accomplished in 2012.

I am extremely proud of this publication and even more so of the positive contributions our members have made to Ontario’s research, education and innovation landscape. I continue to be amazed and inspired by their progress.

ORION is Ontario’s backbone of Innovation – we connect people and technology to make BIG ideas possible.

We have a lot to look forward to in 2013 – including ORION workshops early in the year focused on the K-12 and Technology communities and of course, in April, our annual THINK conference where we will discuss “Extreme Data” and present ORION’s Leadership Awards. ORION’s Leadership Awards recognize individuals who have made a positive impact in their classrooms, institutions, communities and/or research projects.  We are now accepting nominations and I encourage you to nominate yourself or someone you know for this distinction. For more information and to access the nomination form you can click here.

On behalf of all of us at ORION, I would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season and a happy, healthy New Year.
