ORION’s CEO is proud to participate in this event
This year’s summit theme is York Region as an Intelligent Community. An Intelligent Community is defined as one which has – whether through crisis or foresight – come to understand the enormous challenges of the Broadband Economy, and have taken conscious steps to create an economy capable of prospering in it.
Building on the success of the 2015 York Region Broadband & Innovation Summit, this year’s event will focus on the social and economic benefits associated with Intelligent Communities and how York Region and its nine local municipalities can work toward becoming more “Intelligent”.
The conference will feature keynote Robert Bell, co-founder of the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). Opening remarks will come from Mayor David Barrow, Town of Richmond Hill, Mayor Tony Van Bynen, Town of Newmarket & Chair of York Region Broadband Strategy Advisory Task Force.
The panel discussion includes guest speakers Ysni Semsedini, CEO of Festival Hydro (Stratford, ON), Doug McCuollough, CIO of Dublin, OH, and more, who will talk about the steps that were taken to ensure their respective jurisdictions achieved Intelligent Community status as well as the requisite collaborative efforts and social and economic benefits that have resulted. The afternoon will look at GTHA Broadband Toolkit 2.0 Overview and Q&A with Rick Pereira, Province of Ontario and Michael Curri, SNG Group
ORION’s CEO, Alfonso Licata, will be on hand moderating the panel and helping to uncover the steps that were taken to ensure municipal jurisdictions achieved Intelligent Community status, and the requisite collaborative efforts and social and economic benefits that have resulted.
