ORION Community Training returns with Certified Network Defender

ORION will host a Certified Network Defender (CND) Workshop for Ontario’s research and education community. Spanning five days from November 1 to November 5, this network security course will help ORION constituents create and deploy the most comprehensive network defence system.

“ORION knows that now more than ever, the community is focused on keeping sensitive research and student data safe,” says ORION President and CEO, Alfonso Licata. “As we all continue working and learning within hybrid in-person and online environments, ORION is more committed than ever to connecting the community with the skills and resources to protect private information, helping limited resources go further.”

The Certified Network Defender (CND) course focuses on the fundamentals of network defence. Attendees will learn to apply network security controls, protocols and perimeter appliances. They will also learn secure IDS and VPN, firewall configuration, network traffic signatures, analysis and vulnerability scanning. All of which will help with designing network security policies and incident response plans.

The workshop is one of a kind, developed by ORION’S training partner, EC-Council, a leading cybersecurity credentialing body. CND focuses on the latest technologies: Internet of things, attack surface analysis, threat intelligence, software-defined networks (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), Docker, Kubernetes and container security.

Attendees will receive an e-book of the course materials, and access to EC-Council’s CyberQ Labs, where they can complete training exercises in the EC-Council Cyber Range. Attendees who register for the exam will also receive an exam retake voucher at no additional charge.
