Faces of Innovation: ORION network upgrades impact cutting-edge research at uOttawa

In April 2021, as part of ORION’s network resilience improvements and to better support researchers, professors, students and innovators in the Ottawa region, ORION re-located its Ottawa PoP to the University of Ottawa. The upgrade has a powerful impact on uOttawa Professor and Canada Research Chair in AI-enabled Next-Generation Wireless Networks, Melike Erol-Kantarci and her team. Their cutting-edge research explores technologies that incorporate artificial intelligence, which require serious computing power. The re-location of ORION’s PoP means more robust and reliable infrastructure to support the innovation and discoveries of Professor Melike Erol-Kantarci and many others in the region.
