Higher Education Summit 2016 – Digital Learning Highlights

The countdown to Higher Education Summit 2016 is on! ORION proudly sponsors the annual event hosted by Colleges Ontario, and is pleased to host the opening gala, Decades, an ode to the 50th anniversary of the province’s college system.

As Ontario’s event for the latest and greatest on college education and innovation, here’s what to look forward to:

Meet the Maker of the SAMR model

Edtech can be a domain of quickly shifting sands – how do you help ensure that the technological tools in the classroom translate into a lasting productive learning environment for students? In Technology, transformation and sustainability: The challenges for higher education, innovative experts like Ruben R. Puentedura of Hippasus will share insight on frameworks that help deliver edtech in thoughtful and integrated ways that stick – such as the SAMR model.

The Mobile Classroom

There’s no question that students are using more than one device today. How can a post-secondary institution support a device-driven student population in their learning outcomes?  Successful integration of mobile learning initiatives will explore this challenge with industry know-how from vice presidents of academic at Lambton College and Olds College.

At Lambton College, we recognize that students today are inherently digital citizens. In order to support their learning, education needs to be innovated so that we can help prepare students to contribute in a dynamic digital economy.
– Donna Church, VP Academic, Lambton College
