Position Summary:

The Human Resources Manager is accountable for managing and leading ORION’s human resource processes and activities as well as developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in the development and implementation of HR programs and policies to align with the corporate values
  • Developing and updating HR policies and practices to ensure compliance with applicable legislation
  • Acting as primary point of HR contact to all managers and employees in the areas of employee relations, change management, performance management, employee engagement, and best practices
  • Developing, analyzing, and presenting HR related metrics to management
  • Managing full-cycle recruitment including attending interviews, processing employment contracts, and conducting employee on-boarding
  • Liaising with educational institutions for recruitment of co-op students and intern students
  • Managing employee records and ensuring compliance
  • Supporting managers in the performance management process
  • Assisting the leadership team in developing employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies, including employee development plans
  • Managing the off-boarding process for both voluntary and involuntary terminations
  • Participating in creating HR process workflows and seeking opportunities to utilize technology to streamline processes
  • Administer health and wellness plans including enrollment, changes, terminations, and policy renewals
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the compensation framework, ensuring ongoing market competitiveness

Additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned by CFO.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following education, skills, and abilities:

  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in an HR role
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of web-based tools, sites, and techniques specific to recruiting and/or HRIS systems
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, influence, oral, and written communication skills coupled with demonstrated presentations skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Relevant experience in publicly funded not-for-profit organizations or equivalent combination of skills and experience is desirable
